We really know nothing. Talk continues from March to August, just to find out our guesses aren’t even worth two cents. As a result, realities face us that we never would have guessed. Here are 5 of those.
The Raiders start 3-0
Going into week 3, the Raiders lead the league in sacks and are 2nd in interceptions. Dean, Walker, Masses, Crosby, the list goes on. Vegas is playing with house money and an excellent defense, while Kirk has been effective as a quarterback and a mentor. Who knows what can happen if they start 3-0.
Who getting Shough tonight?
Just like Gunna, Tyler Shough has been on a heater. He leads the league in passing yards and is one play away from a 2-0 start vs. playoff caliber teams. If they can get past the Raiders on Sunday, the Saints become 2-1 in a poor division, with one of the best passing attacks in football. Who would’ve thought?
Historic rookie in South Beach
Jacob Rodriguez was 5th in Heisman voting, yet fell into day 2 of the draft. He MIGHT have a chip on his shoulder, because he debuted with 14 tackles, the most in a Dolphins debut since Zach Thomas in 1996. Now, in his first home game, he’s tasked with tackling Kenneth Walker, the league-leading rusher. Man, the NFL is fun. But that means he should rack up tackles. Patrick Willis’s rookie record is 174 tackles. If Rodriguez continues the pace, he has a chance to smash that.
The Twilight of the Herbert Era
If-Man’s time in Los Angeles might be coming to a close. Whether it’s because the franchise entertains the trade calls coming in, or just the fact that the roster is leaky in a packed AFC West, I don’t think the team is blind to reality. If they start out 0-3, uncomfortable conversations about their future will have to be had.
Colts say goodbye to their present and future
Shoving all the chips into the center of the table with Daniel Jones as your quarterback was always a bold play. Dealing 2 first-round picks, just to give up an average of 37 points across your first two games, is a horrendous look. Indy struck deals for key players that “opened their window” for the next two years. However, they might have grossly overestimated their abilities and don’t have an immediate future to correct it. Starting 0-3 would be the start of a purgatory season before we even hit October.
